Michael The Movie, is a 2026 American biographical drama film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan. It chronicles the life of American singer Michael Jackson, spanning from his time with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to the early days of his solo career. Jackson is portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, in his film debut. The cast includes Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo.
Synopsis
Young Michael Jackson (Juliano Krue Valdi), the eighth of ten siblings, is trained from a very early age for a career in music under the strict guidance of his father, Joe (Colman Domingo). With the family group the Jackson Five, he celebrates his first hits, and by age 13, he has already launched his solo career. Even as an adult (Jaafar Jackson), his life continues to be dominated by music. In the late 1970s, he meets Diana Ross (Kat Graham) and producer Quincy Jones (Kendrick Sampson) during the filming of a movie, which radically changes his musical direction. The album “Off the Wall” (1979), produced by Jones, becomes a huge success, which in 1982 is surpassed by the groundbreaking and best-selling album “Thriller.” Parallel to this rise, a rift develops with his father Joe, whom Jackson fires as his manager and replaces with attorney John Branca (Miles Teller).
