The Bride!, is an upcoming American gothic romance film written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film stars Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale, alongside Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz. The film is inspired by the 1935 film The Bride of Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein.
Synopsis
Chicago in the 1930s: Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale), constantly tormented by infinite loneliness, seeks the help of the enigmatic Dr. Euphronius (Annette Bening). The monster’s most intimate desire: a companion to be by his side. Together they embark on a dark task: they choose a woman as their victim and, with scientific refinement, bring her corpse (Jessie Buckley) back to life. What begins as a cruel experiment soon turns into a passionate love story between the monster and his resurrected bride. But this unusual romance does not go unnoticed: soon, the police do everything in their power to hunt down the unlikely couple, and their love is put to a dangerous test…
